Currently, I am associate professor in the Department of Slavic Languages (Alecu Russo Bălți State University) and specialized in the field of lingvoculturology, intercultural dialogue, ancient and modern types of verbal culture. I have participated in international scientific conferences, round tables, seminars and international projects. Besides of my scientific activities, I am working as a full-time journalist. I was author and presenter of educational and entertainment programs on the FM 103.5 radio station (2001-03) and since 2003 I am journalist of the independent regional publication “SP” and responsible for covering criminal and social events. I obtained two awards concerning my media reports: second-degree diploma in the National Contest of Journalists covering the HIV / AIDS issues, organised by the Moldovan representation of the Dutch NGO AIDS Foundation East-West (2011), and second-degree diploma at the 2nd International Contest of Publications on Tolerance, Integration, Mutual Respect and Understanding in Society for the article “No to Islam? Islam exists” (2012).
I am lecturer at the Alecu Russo Bălți State University (Republic of Moldova) and currently Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Philology. I was born in Băți and graduated from Alecu Russo Bălți State University in Ukrainian and Romanian Language and Literature (1997–2002). After my PhD studies in Ukrainian Language at the Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University (2012–2015) I obtained a PhD degree by defending my thesis on “Typology of Forms and the Dynamics of the Ukrainian Dialects of Northern Moldova.” My research interests include language, culture and education in the polyethnic and multilingual society as well as language, culture and education of Ukrainians in the Republic of Moldova and dialects of the Ukrainian villages of Northern Moldova. I have organized and participated in numerous scientific conferences, roundtables, and seminars and participated in international projects. In the project “Media beyond frontiers” I am acting as one the project coordinators.
I am acting as head of the International Office at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University since 2009. Here I got my Master’s degrees in German language and General Linguistics as well as in International Relations. I was employed as an assistant professor at Ternopil National Economic University (2001-2002) and at Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University (2002-2009). From 2005 to 2010 I was also tandem-lecturer of the Robert Bosch Fund. I am coordinating and participating in many international projects within the framework of TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS, ERASMUS+, DAAD, KAAD, Robert Bosch Fund and others. I am executive director of the German studies centre “Gedankendach” at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. Currently, I am one of the project coordinators in the project “Media beyond frontiers”.
I teach Foreign Literature at the Chair of Foreign Literature and Theory of Literature and work in the International Office at the Juriy Fedkovych University in Chernivtsi (Ukraine). I had several scholarships from Robert Bosch Foundation, the DAAD and EU. Since 2009 I am the deputy director of the Center of German Studies Gedankendach and head of the Ukrainian-German Cultural Society in Chernivtsi. So I am responsible for various cultural and educational projects at the university and in Chernivtsi as well.
After graduation as PhD in Romance (Italian, French, Romanian) Language and Literature (Slavic philology as second subject) at the University of Hamburg I started my journalistic career at German Press-Agency dpa (Deutsche Presse-Agentur) in different departments: Culture, Science, Foreign Desk. From dpa I changed to the newsmagazine „Der Spiegel“, where I worked as an editor at the science desk for more than 25 years. I started exploring Eastern Europe intensely after having retired from „Der Spiegel“ in 2005: Teaching journalism at the University of Cluj/Romania for six years, researching and reporting on different topics in Romania and other countries: Moldova (travelling to Transnistria and Gagausia) and Ukraina. Since 2014 I took part as media-expert in workshops of IKGS and Goethe-Institute in Chernivtsi. I am now working as a freelance journalist for „Spiegel-online“ and for the German newspaper „Süddeutsche Zeitung“, mainly on recent and contemporary history.
Media trainer, PhD, book review columnist, Press Secretary at the International Literary Corporation MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ (Chernivtsi, Ukraine). Worked as music, cultural and entertainment programs host on the „Bukovyna” radio and a news editor and announcer on the „City” radio. 2008-2011 – a literary columnist for „A Bit of Culture” (a leaflet to the newspaper „Molodyy Bukovynets”, Chernivtsi). Since 2010 – a Member of the National Journalist’s Union of Ukraine. Since 2014 – a Member of the Independent Media Trade Union of Ukraine. Got a Master’s degree in Philology („World Literature and Theory of Literature”) in Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, and a Master’s degree in Journalism („International information”) in Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. In 2011 finished courses in media law online in Kyiv Media Law Institute. Since 2011 work as a full-time assistant professor for the Department of Journalism in Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
I am lecturer at the English and German Philology Department at the Alecu Russo Bălți State University (Republic of Moldova) at currently PhD student at the Doctoral School of Philology. I was born in Bălți and have been living here for 40 years. I obtained my university education an dMaster’s degree at the Philology Department of Alecu Russo Bălți State University majoring in Romanian and English language and literature (1996-2001). I have been teaching English at Alecu Russo Bălți State University for 16 years. Throughout this period, I have taught the following disciplines: Lyric Poetry, Specialized Lexis, British / American Short Stories, The English Literature, and English for Specific Purposes for majors such as Journalism and Informatics. My research interests include English language and literature; the Romanian literature of the second part of the 20th century, and self-referential/ biographical genres.
I am freelance science and cultural manager and work with IKGS and other institutions (Goethe-Institute, GIZ). Since 2014, I am organizing projects regarding the history, culture and media in Central Europe as well as with civil societies in the countries of Eastern partnership. I got a Master’s degree in German Studies and Journalism (University of Leipzig) and a PhD in European Studies (University of Porsmouth). I had a 5 years assignment as a lecturer for the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) at the University of Chernivtsi (1998-2003) and a post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Portsmouth. In my research activities I am focusing on the history of Bukowina, press and discourse issues, transformation processes in Central and Southeastern Europe and German-Jewish literature of the 19th and 20th century.
